What a bright day to live on! The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the streets are full of honking cars, the sound of cycle bells also fills the air, and to sum it all up: everyone are definitely feeling the school vibes today. I enter the school entrance door with my trustworthy sidekicks. Who are my trustworthy sidekicks? My yellow sneakers, light blue ripped jeans, oversized rainbow sweater, yellow cat hat, and my neon bracelets (if people notice it hidden behind my sweater). Everyone would call me “the sunny guy” or “the single rainbow peep”. That’s totally fine, I’m glad that people notice me as the sky’s representation (don’t take it too literal here).
“Hey weirdo!” Eudora shouts jokingly. Her joke is followed by a series of laughs from Reena, Cyndra, and Alia who walk at Eudora's side. They're qualified for what people call “The It Girls”, straight hairs, make-ups, dressy outfits, selfies, all checks for them.
“Hey ladies!” I reply their greet with a playful smile.
“So Harper, who’s your partner for the class project?” This time it's Reena's turn to ask a question.
“I’m with Fred, how about you guys?”
“Lucky you! I’m paired up with Gerald!” Cyndra sighs.
“What's wrong with Gerald? I thought he's a hardworker”
“Well I don’t know about that yet, but he never talk to me except when the talk is related with class duties. Plus when his friends pass by, he would make some lousy jokes about Anime and stuffs, and that’s super weird” Seems like Cyndra is having a bad time working with Gerald.
“Weirder than me?” I asked Cyndra jokingly.
“Hahaha, very funny” Cyndra answered sarcastically.
“Lucky me! I’m paired up with Jerry!” Alia is always stand-offish.
“Duh, you don’t even have to work. Just leave it all to Jerry huh?” Cyndra replied, offended.
“Ladies, such a shame i have to cut this catfight short, but I have to run for class now, see ya!”
“See Ya later Harp!” The ladies waves their hands and smiles.
I walk quickly to my classroom, but a ball stops me when I pass by the basketball field.
“Yo Harp! Pass the ball would Ya!” Tim shouts from the field.
Tim is playing with Gabriel, Bonnie, Kevin, Sam, Duck, and Caecillia. The peeps qualified for the “All-star Athletes” group in this school. Morning before class is not the time to wear sport uniforms just yet, but for these guys: all checks for sport shoes, black t-shirts, and black sweatpants with white stripes on it.
“Morning to you too, Tim” I pass the ball back to Tim.
“Sorry for disturbing your ‘sunny’ morning, Harp!” See guys, Tim already referred to the Sunny word by now.
“No harm done Dude!”
When I reach the stairs, I bump to Gerald who's on his way up too.
“Morning Gerald!”
“Morning Harper” Gerald is greeted by his fellow ‘Japan-esque geeks' Finn, Vince, Devin and Peter. Guess what, Vince would give Gerald the best breakfast: advice with criticism as its sauce.
“So you’re not gonna switch partners with other pairs for the class project?”
“I don’t know dude” Gerald sighs desperately.
“You really need to switch, G. Cyndra will not give any contribution for any task whether it’s a group task or a pairs one”
“It’s up to you man, but prepare yourself for the worst that could happen” Finn tries to encourage Gerald for……….making the right choice?
“Come on guys, we don’t know if Cyndra would finally change and turn to the path of diligent?” Always leave it to Peter for cooling down the situation.
“Way to describe it like a poetry Mr. Poet, but yeah, we can’t just quit on someone especially when it makes your assignment harder” Devin and Peter is definitely the cold-headed duo of the Japan-esque squad.
They, among other Japan-esque squads at the school can be noticed from their “always wearing jacket and headphones” persona. Plus, you really need to pay attention on their bags, which are full of Anime character pins.
Don’t have time for Vince's ‘counter-attack' to Peter and Devon's argument, because I have to run for class like, now! I exchange “See you in class” greetings with the group and run off to class.
On my way to class, I get the chance to walk alongside the ‘hippie artsy musicians'. They can be ‘multifunctional'. They're like, the most expressive group in the school. They wear outfits with flower patterns, they listen to music everytime, sing and play musical instruments all the time, and reach the straight A's scored student club every year. Combine hipster, prep, and band to 1 group and this is the result.
“Bonjouurr Haarrp~” Ruth greet everyone with her own tune of singing.
Behind her is a row of ‘flower army' consisting Laurel, Tara, Jerry, Claire, Cazz, and the hot-headed math scholar Idie. Each one of them must bring something with their hand(s), either a guitar, a violin or a choir note paper.
“So how's everyone's class project?” Claire always care for anyone.
“The project seems like the trending topic that everyone talks about this morning huh?” Cazz shrugs.
“Seconded” Jerry expresses his agreement.
“I’m paired up with Tyrone. We’d probably create something based on bicycle” Tara shrugs
“Yeah anything he ever talks about is bike, bike accessories, et cetera et cetera. But luckily you have the guts to work on that, right Tar?” Cazz asks playfully.
“Seconded” Jerry nods in agreement, again.
“Whatever” Tara is a bit annoyed.
